Working Principle of Ionization Trap
The ionization trap cylinder is equipped with a tubular (honeycomb-shaped) precipitation electrode (anode) in the middle, above the precipitation electrode there is an upper umbrella suspended by four high-voltage insulators; below the precipitation electrode there is a lower umbrella suspended by four high-voltage insulators.
Several corona electrodes (cathodes) of the electrostatic tar precipitator are made of 1Cr18Ni9 steel wire with a diameter of ф1.5 mm,with bolts at both ends; the upper end is hung on the upper umbrella, and the lower end is fixed on the lower umbrella to straighten the corona electrodes,so that each corona electrode is located at the center of each honeycomb cell of the precipitation electrode.
When a sufficiently high DC voltage is applied to the corona electrodes, a strong andnon-uniform electrostatic field is generated inside each honeycomb cell. When coal gas containing tar mist droplets and fine solid dust particles passes through the high-voltage electrostatic field,gas molecules undergo ionization, generating electrons and positive and negative ions. Under the action of the electric field force, positive ions move toward the corona electrodes(cathodes), while a large number of free electrons and negative ions move toward the precipitation electrodes (anodes); electrons and negative ions continuously collide with tar mist and fine dust in the coal gas during movement,charging these fine particles negatively. The charged particles move toward the precipitation electrodes, and since the precipitation electrodes are grounded,when the charged tar mist droplets move to the precipitation electrodes, they discharge and deposit on the cylinder wall of the precipitate, then fall to the bottom by gravity,and are discharged through the outlet. The tar-removed coal gas is discharged from the upper gas outlet.
